How Ordinary People Become Extraordinary

There are no extraordinary people only ordinary people who do extraordinary things with what they've been given.

Extraordinary looks different for everyone.

People who succeed and do things that seem extraordinary to us are actually ordinary people like you and me. However, there are some clues on how to become extraordinary that apply to everyone.

These principles must be followed and cannot be avoided if your goal is to become extraordinary.

How to Become Extraordinary in 3 Steps

1. Choose Extraordinary Thoughts

How to become extraordinary fast? Shift your mindset from having ordinary thoughts to having extraordinary ones. People who are changing the world are no different than you and me, they just choose to cancel all bullshit thoughts and excuses they keep telling themselves.

“I can’t do it, I’m not good enough, It’s impossible, It’s too hard”, and similar thoughts are discarded immediately as they come. Negative thinking and negative words have no place in the lives of extraordinary people.

Positive affirmations and positive thinking are the first steps to becoming extraordinary. 

Write a list of 10 to 15 affirmations of what you want to do in life and repeat them daily. They will flood your mind with the confidence and positivity you need to have in order to start doing extraordinary things. 

You must stick with these affirmations no matter what. It’s very easy to fall into negative thinking, so to ensure that you stick with extraordinary thoughts during the day, you have to remind yourself often to choose positive thoughts.

If you keep this habit for a week, your life will become incredible. If you do it for a month, it’ll become unbelievable, and if you do it for a year, it will become extraordinary. I promise.

Watch your thoughts, they become your words.
Watch your words, they become your actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.

Therefore, alter your thoughts alter your reality.

2. Do Extraordinary Things

Once you adopt the habit of having only positive and extraordinary thoughts, you’ll have the confidence to keep grinding through all life hardships. And trust me, there will be many. From bad experiences to people closest to you trying to discourage you from doing extraordinary things. But no matter what, you need to go through them with full power and confidence you can succeed in anything you make your mind to. 

If you consistently do things that matter, you will automatically become extraordinary.

How to do things that matter regularly? Choose your MITs (most important tasks) directly related to your plans and goals and focus on them first thing in the morning. If you have a job, wake up earlier and do them before job, or do them before going to sleep. You choose. There are no excuses for not working on self-improvement. There is a saying: Where there is a will, there is a way, and it holds true 100% of the time.

An extraordinary person is someone who consistently does the things ordinary people can't do or won't do.

3. Surround Yourself with Extraordinary People

All the extraordinary people (Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Jack Ma, etc.) surround themselves exclusively with other extraordinary people. Jim Rohn said:

You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.

Therefore, always put yourself in the room with people smarter than you, because sooner or later they will pull you to their level. Then, when you learn everything you need, change rooms and repeat the whole process.

If you have negative, or even worse – toxic people around you, be polite and stop spending time with them. They will only erode your ambition, thoughts, and actions.

It's okay to be average, as long as you surround yourself with extraordinary people that you become the average of.


Transforming from ordinary to extraordinary is a decision. One that shouldn’t be hard to make. It will involve a great deal of work, narrowing down your focus, and consistently doing the work that really matters. It will mean giving up your safety net and changing comfortable life for an extraordinary one – giving up what is good for what is great
